Overview
You can record a variety of activities using the HealthMotivate app alone, but downloading and installing other 3rd party apps can significantly improve your wellness tracking experience.
Also, "smart" hardware devices such as a weight scale, blood pressure cuff or a wearable such as a smartwatch can also significantly improve your experience as well. "Smart" means you can pair the hardware with your smartphone. Usually this requires you to install an app created by the hardware manufacturer onto your smartphone.
Each of the 3rd party apps will need to share their data with the health platform of your mobile device. For Apple iPhone users, this is Apple Health, and for Android phone users, this is Google Fit.
Once this data is shared with the mobile health platform (Apple Health or Google Fit), you can then share that data with trackers in the HealthMotivate app. This section will show you how to do that.
Integration steps

1) Purchase hardware
Not all integrations include an actual physical device. But if you want to do any of the following activities, you can benefit greatly from “smart” hardware:
- Checking your blood pressure
- Monitoring your weight
- Taking your temperature
- Accurately tracking your sleep, steps and heart rate
You must ensure the hardware has a method to sync with your phone. It may be best to check out the device app to make sure it is compatible with your phone platform, and also note the ratings. Poorly rated apps can be frustrating to use, or not even work at all!
2) Download 3rd party app
Whether you have hardware or not, most integrations require you to download a 3rd party app. If you have hardware, the documentation that comes with it will give you instructions how to download and install the app.
3) Share 3rd party app data with your OS health platform
Your “OS health platform” refers to the data bridge between your downloaded apps, and the health platform of the mobile OS (Operating System) that runs on your smartphone. iPhone users have Apple Health, and Android users have Google Fit.
For participating wellness apps, a link to share their logged data with the OS health platform should be located in their app settings.
4) Allow health platform to share data with HealthMotivate app
As activity trackers are installed in the HealthMotivate app, you will be asked to connect to the OS health platform. You will then be shown the relevant health tracking metrics you choose to share. Select the ones that you wish to share, and save those settings. You should now be able to return to the HealthMotivate app and see the shared data.
